We just finished a fabulous week of visiting. Rebecca and Brian flew in from Michigan and Melissa and Stafford came from San Fran. We all headed over to the island for some qt with the rest of the Kellogg clan (Debbie, Michael and Kristi). Mama ate all of her meals with two hands...oh, the little things that thrill me :)
Grandma Debbie hosted a lovely shower for Squirrel and I and baby got lots of snuggles in with her Aunties, Grandma, Grampa, Great Grandparents and Great Aunt & Uncle. It was lovely and sunny and super relaxing. Squirrel even slept two nights straight through. Little champ ;) Debbie and Michael have a lovely sun deck and Teddy had to peel me off of a recliner out there to load me into the car and off to the ferry.
Now we are home and it's just us again. The quiet is kinda nice but we wish that everyone lived closer so our visits wouldn't have such huge gaps in between.
Yesterday, before Melissa and Stafford left, we hit up the drive for Italian Day. Holy delicious meatball sammies, batman! What a sweaty, sunny gongshow! Commercial Drive was packed to the gills with people and yummy treats. We feasted on fresh canolli, bbq'd chicken, watermelon, meatballs and lemonade and finished our day off with a stop-off at Regan's for one of her famous caesars on our way home. It's hard not to miss living on the drive after a day like that. Sigh.
Tomorrow, Autumn has her two month shots. I booked them a little late so she'd be a bit stronger incase of any reaction. Also to buy myself some extra time to hum and haw over whether to vaccinate her traditionally or holistically. IT'S SO HARD!! Anyway, we opted to go with trad. vaccines after lots of reading, discussing and talking to other parents. We decided that traditional immunizations are best for us since we hope to travel lots with the little woman. Wish us luck. We are hoping for an issue-free shot session as we hope to hit up t-dot for some more family time.
I have some more pictures and I'll post them once I have my camera charged. Also, stay tuned for Auntie Rebecca's amazing shots. We will get those up as soon as they're ready.
Lots of summer love.

oops!
River Malcolm Lawley
I'm so proud of my lovely friend Cait! Just two days ago, she gave birth to a gorgeous baby boy: River Malcolm Lawley. Welcome to the world, little man. You are lucky to have such a sweet, kind and amazing mama. I can't wait to meet this little guy!
As for our little woman... ;)
Autumn has decided that she no longer wants to have an early evening nap. Instead, she wants to eat a hundred time and tell us all about her day. Tonight, she watched the Canucks WIN and played peek-a-boo with her Daddy. Because I was starting to feel anxious about her having been awake for so long, I decided to try something new and have evening bath instead of sudsing up in the morning...It always helps me to relax and feel snoozy. Anyway. Here we are at 10:30pm and baby Squirrel is listening to some tunes in her bassinette, smelling all fresh and clean...But still fighting sleep. 10pm bed time isn't usually an issue, so I'm hoping she dozes off soon. Cranky baby + hungry mama is no good for anyone. Fingers are crossed that soothie and Mozart for babies work some magic for us now because I'm running out of ideas.
Anyhew, this is how the last little while has looked:
It's now 11:20pm. I think she is finally asleep. Sigh.

UPPPPP date :)
She's over 10lbs!!!!!!!
It's crazy. I couldn't understand in the beginning why anyone would need a nursing pillow....Until my child got heavy. I get it. Yesterday, I met a lady on the street who was walking her 2 week old baby girl. Her daughter was the same size as Autumn...Just floppier and still with that fresh newborn look...You know, fuzzy and wrinkly and red. It dawned on me that I had a pretty small baby. I mean, she was huge for a 7 weeks preemie, but small nonetheless. She is growing fast though...There is no slowing her down. I feel like I'm constantly pouting over clothes that fit yesterday and are too small today. Thank goodness for the generosity of Squirrel's friends and family...She has clothes to fit until she's a big girl!
We are really looking forward to visits from Aunties Rebecca & Melissa next week and Brian & Stafford too, of course! It's been very obvious lately that our girl is working up to some big smiles. We aren't totally there yet, but we are close!! Hopefully we'll have smiles and giggles for the aunties while they're here.
